The People’s Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region recently revealed that in order to strengthen the prevention and control of air pollution, new buildings in Inner Mongolia will be heated by central heating or natural gas and other clean energy sources since 2014.

 

According to reports, this year Inner Mongolia will speed up the construction of heat pipe network, promote central heating, "coal-to-gas", and "coal-to-electricity" projects, and accelerate the elimination of small heating coal-fired boilers through central heating and clean energy replacement. All urban built-up areas basically eliminate coal-fired boilers and tea-bath furnaces with a steam capacity of 10 tons/hour or less, and scattered small boilers that are difficult to replace must be replaced with clean energy. According to relevant plans, Inner Mongolia is vigorously promoting green buildings, with affordable housing, government investment projects and large public buildings taking the lead in implementing green building standards, requiring new buildings to strictly implement mandatory energy-saving standards, and promoting the use of solar photovoltaic and solar-thermal building integrated technologies. At present, Inner Mongolia is implementing the energy-saving renovation project of existing residential buildings. In the next two years, energy-saving renovation of 10 million square meters of existing residential buildings will be completed every year. By 2017, 80% of the existing buildings with renovation value will complete the energy-saving renovation.
